Quote from I am...:
jem, see wikipedia about different kinds of metaphor...especially "dead metaphor":
Quote from Wikipedia:
"A dead metaphor is one in which the sense of a transferred image is not present. Example: "to grasp a concept" or "to gather what you've understood" Both of these phrases use a physical action as a metaphor for understanding (itself a metaphor), do most visualize the physical action. Dead metaphors, by definition, normally go unnoticed. Some people make a distinction between a "dead metaphor" whose origin most speakers are entirely unaware about (such as "to break the ice"). Others, however, use dead metaphor for both of these concepts, and use it more generally as a way of describing metaphorical cliché. "
Only as the metaphor is understood does it come to life, so-to-speak. And only as the metaphor comes to life is it able to give you life also. But for it to come to life, you must open a closed mind. A closed mind is like a tomb...dark...and dead inside. There is a proverbial "stone" rolled in front of the way you came into the tomb, which blocks the your escape from the tomb. The stone stands for "sin", which is an acronym for seriously insane notions about Christ.
A dead Jesus is a metaphor for a dead Christ. All of time and history is the story of a dead Christ. Think of the big bang as a shot-gun blast to the head...of Christ. Christ is killed that "the universe" may live. The universe, therefore, is a metaphor for a dead Christ. But a dead Christ cannot be the truth....because Christ is Life itself. Christ is really alive...not dead. So then, what is this "the universe"? It must be a dream. Resurrection is the sign of awakening. To awaken, you must roll away the stone that blocks your mind from opening. Let the light shine in. Open your mind and recieve peace.
Christ is "risen"...present tense...NOW.
Or,
Christ is "dead"...present tense...now.
You have to decide which is the truth.
If Christ is risen, then "the universe" must be false.
The truth is, there is no world.
It is but the stuff of dreams.
Arise, awaken you sleeping ones!
Peace,
Christ!
he died on the cross and by rising he restored our life. he is risen.
God is probably outside time. He sent his son into our "time" this is our universe.
Your reasoning that a risen christ means a dead universe - is interesting speculation. It may not even be inconsistent with the bible.
As I said. I suspect God is outside of time. But, I anchor myself in the bible. If I believe in God and I believe Christ is also God - I might as well anchor my beliefs and my understanding in the Bible.
Of course I am free to make up my own shit as well. If I did not believe that God had made promises and that he keeps them and the bible is a record of those promises. ... I would probably call you up - ask you more about your philosophy and use it to make millions as a televangelist on t.v.
But, the difference between you and I, is that I believe in something greater than myself. I believe in the God of the bible and that we may know him by the promises he made in the bible. I believe the promises Jesus made when he told what we must do to have eternal life.
The peach of Christ to you, happy Easter.
