I really got whipped today as well. Was down over 3m but got it down to 1200 before the end of the day.

I'm a newbie and I would like to know if there is any tool out there which would tell me if it is going to be a choppy , strong or weak market.
I'm paper trading and today I had all losses.
Some guys here mentioned earlier here today that market had low volume today.
How do i know if the market has low volume?
