Fintech innovation is driving Asia these days. If lemmings are innovating, maybe, we should follow lemmings. Well, at least that's what Google seemed to suggest the US Fed.
Don't you hit massive fines/penalties/slashing if your machine goes down? This is why I don't bother with running a Dot node. Not worth getting slashed just to help out the system.
That said, I still am confused on instant BTC payment. There is a 10-minute blocktime wait. So if someone is accepting payment instantly, there is some risk somewhere, isn't there?
As a sidenote, since the Pandemic hit in Canada, I started seeing some stores refuse to take cash and only allow plastic/apple-pay.
By the way, pennies were already phased out before then, and stores refuse to take them

There are no penalties or any expectations from running a Bitcoin LN node. You can shutdown or come back online anytime. Just like running a regular Bitcoin node
The transactions occur on the Lightning Network (L2) and not on the main Bitcoin blockchain

No Chipotle is not accepting Cryptocurrency Payments. Just because a guy from New Delhi can use his Bank Of India credit card to buy lunch at a New York City Chipotle, it does not mean that New York Chipotles are accepting rupees. Some intermediary is accepting the crypto, and for a substantial fee, giving dollars to Chipotle.
What's a check?
It’s a negotiable instrument. It’s also called a draft and commonly used in commercial transactions. For non-commercial transactions, it is not used much now since the advent of online payment methods.
Still, paying by check is useful for certain types of payments—taxes, car purchases, private school tuition, contractors, tradesmen, charitable donations, credit card bills. Buying property is a big one. Always use a check for the deposit.
As I said, I usually pay cash for personal services. A friend of mine paid his piano tuner by check and said the piano guy gave him a strange look. I told him he was a jerk for writing a check for $300 and possibly making the guy wait for the check to clear.
I’m sure you have at least seen a check in your lifetime. We know you are just trying to look hip.
A check is what you give someone when you don't have any money, and you hope to be out of town by the time it bounces.
