Exactly, Germany is the crown jewel of European economies and a net surplus exporting world economic leader because of their engineering prowess, not in spite of it.

Why build things from ground up when you can copy thing from others and improve them through R&D? It is simply too costly to develop everything on your own. All companies will go bankrupt immediately if they don’t copy things from others. Do you know what innovations mean? Most techs we have today have innovated from ancient China inventions.
