China Stocks with options

Hi, I think the situation btw. the US and China will escalate further, especially now b/c of Pelosi's planned trip to Taiwan. China threats with military force, and the US is threatening with delisting all Chinese stocks listed in the US...
So, then this could be an opportunity :) to short these stocks or even better buying some Put options.
What do others think about this "opportunistic" analysis? :D

I was going to post an article about it. I guess you beat me to it. Personally I think both countries are using this as a way to call each other's bluff and are making a bigger deal than what it is on purpose. Seriously what's the big deal of her visiting Taiwan? It's not like other US political leaders have not visited before. That's one. Two, WHY can't countrys' political leaders visit Taiwan regardless whether Taiwan is a country or a province or a region or whatever you want to call it? Just because a place is not a country, it can't receive visits from other countries' political leaders? That's absolutely ridiculous. States, provinces, and cities receive international leaders, politicians, and figureheads all the time. Softie Biden is doing this "high-level conference" for nothing. What's he going to say to Xi? Apologize or kowtow? LOL

I think what all countries should do is to send all their political leaders to visit Taiwan so China can get used to Taiwan receiving visits from other countries' political leaders. I mean it's really out of respect for China and China's wish that Taiwan be recognized as its territory that all countries are voluntarily refraining from sending political leaders to Taiwan but if China is going to make a big deal out of it and is taking "force measures" then it's time to show that the world is not going to be bullied to do or not to do something. It's about time that Taiwan is not going to be alienated from the world anymore.
 
@TheDawn, it's about contract terms and agreement obligations: China accepted the bilateral agreements
always only under the explicitly written condition that the other partner treats Taiwan just as a province of China, not as an independent state. Those trade partners of China have profited from the agreement, but now breaching the agreement or undermining it as in this case by the US is not gentleman-like; it has its price, obviously... A deal is a deal is a deal...

I think that in the end, this Pelosi visit won't happen. The US needs a minimum of cooperation from China on a number of other issues, not least the war in Ukraine, and the Taiwan can of worms will be kicked further down the road. They cannot be fighting simultaneously on so many fronts.

But then, I'm not American so who knows.

First of all, there were never any agreements, never any signed treaties, just memorandum from a political point of view. Like I said, all the countries' alienation of Taiwan so far is really out of respect for China and is purely on a voluntary basis. This is what you need to understand. China might have used this as a condition for trading but it's not something that can be or should be forced upon other countries. After all trading is for mutual benefits of all trading partners. China needs to stop playing the victim and always think it's the other countries that benefitted from everything and somehow China is always the losing party. And then turn around and credit themselves for all the shiny infrastructures and the double-digit annual growth rate that propelled it to the second largest economy of the world. You can't have it both ways. You either accept that China is the bigger winner from all the trading agreements (using an artificially depressed yuan) and it's really foreign countries that have supported China and carried it all those years and appreciate what the world has done for China and be more co-operative with the world or if you think China did it all by itself then it doesn't matter whether foreign countries adhere to the "deal" or not, the world can do whatever it wants with everything including Taiwan. China doesn't need the world anyway.

Between politics and economics, China can only have one, not both. You want money, you co-operate with the world. You want politics, then you go back to the old times before the economic advancement. This is the same with every country in the world even including the United States. No country is an exception. And this is the basic rule in doing business. To make money, you need to co-operate with others.

Tbh, I really dunno what's the big deal about a visit to a tiny island by a country's politician. It's not like the US or the world is coming out saying Taiwan is an independent country. Taiwan is still not allowed to join the UN or any organizations under the UN. It's barred from WTO and all the world organizations like G7, G20, APEC and etc. No country in the world is establishing any diplomatic relationships with Taiwan on a unilateral basis. It's just a tiny island all by itself. The US is really picking on China's paranoid sensitivity and China is playing right into the US' hands. Oh well, maybe China really does want to use this opportunity to put all the weapons that it's spent so much money on building throughout the years into use finally and gain the chance to rewrite the world order. All the major wars were all started over tiny little countries or regions.

Imagine you have your own stock trading system and make a ton of money. Would you be happy if at the end an a$$ tells you to give up your profits?

Look: China already strongly sent a warning to the US. Do you think China will just warn the US every time? Nope, it's now clearly saying "enough is enough!" and reacts accordingly:

IMHO USA is risking to lose the island Guam somewhere there, further south-east off the South China Sea, incl. the stationed US military on that base...

Taiwan is not an independent country but nobody ever said it belongs to China, not in any agreements, treaties, or anything. LOL Taiwan belongs to the world and anything to do with Taiwan is a world affair and every single country has the right to interfere and defend Taiwan if it needs to be against any bullying countries, whether it's China or Japan. When Japan invaded Taiwan and occupied Taiwan, US and the world intervened as well. The US and the world will do the same this time if China does the same as Japan. Nobody bullies Taiwan or occupies Taiwan, period. It's best that China understands and adheres to this otherwise if anything happens, it will be China and China will be the invader and will be condemned by the world. And I don't mean just the West, but everybody. That's the reality.

Nope, the bilateral contracts of China are its "trading system"...
China and USA agreed upon the bilateral contract btw. them. The US does not have the right to violate that agreement!
But we all know why the US provokes China: b/c it fears to be dethroned by China :D
But it is inevitable. Just accept the fact and get over it. Peace! :)

If it's bilateral, then it involves TWO people then it's NOT China's trading system. It's a mutual agreement which is everybody's trading system. LOL This is what China needs to understand. Nothing is or was ever achieved by China alone. Whatever China has achieved is by everybody co-operating, exchanging ideas and technologies. China has achieved whatever success it has today by the support and help of the world.

As to US violating the agreement, what does China care? China doesn't need the US or the world. If it's US or the world violating the agreement, then China just stop trading with the US and the world. There you go, problem solved! I can guarantee you. The US won't be the only or the last country that will visit Taiwan. China better get used to it or it can just stop trading with the rest of the world. China's choice.

As to the "throne", we don't really care whether we are "dethroned" or not cuz we were never on a "throne" and we never cared. We live in a democracy not an empire and we see the world as a democracy so there was never any "throne". It's China that always wanted to be the big boss, to be on a "throne" like an emperor. So China can have it, all by itself up there. LOL Have fun!
