i hope americans aren't dumb enough to believe we're there to liberate the people. i doubt our leaders would give a rat's ass about their people if libya had no oil.

China has been buying up Natural Resources around the world since 06. One project i deal with is OIL. I raise money to drill DPPs, (Direct Participation Programs) in Oil and Gas. The US has been a bunch of idiots for not focusing on the Oil and Gas overseas or mining rights. But China has not been an enemy on this issue, just smarter.

And if Libya was about oil, then why does China own the majority of the Rights to OIL in IRAQ? The US did not move in that direction?

I think the only thing you know about ASIA is the fact that you may drive a Honda. That's about it.


Bottom line, China has played a damn good game of Poker. Not only have they bought AMERICA but they have secured a lot of Natural Resources around the world. All the while, the US worried about what it would look like if we Bought the OIL rights in IRAQ and Mining rights in Afghanistan.

The US has drop'd the ball on this one and we will pay heavy for it. But, an all out war on Resources is bullshit.

FYI: it is close to 12 midnight central time and I'm about to call my clients in Shanghai. I deal with China on a regular bases. Right now, we are working on a deal that will allow China to buy up some of our "Key" industry and "Key" Infrastructure. America is for sell and China is still buying.

Ever thought for a moment that much of the world thinks the US President is a 'tyrant'. Screw your head on backwards for a moment and they've got a solid argument.

Not knocking the US or supporting the otherside but always remember that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter..........

The UK had this problem with the IRA in Ireland. In the UK they were called terrorists but many in the US called them freedom fighters and sent them loads of cash. Who was right?
 
China is concerned because they thought they had Africa all to themselves, mostly, after the West basically stole the precious metals and abandoned the continent. Now that the prices for many non PM resources are rising rapidly, perhaps the West now sees Africa as more than just pirates, hunger, disease, etc... China, which plans out for decades and not just to the next 3 month earnings statement or the next election, already has a huge foothold in Africa, with (according to an article I recdently read) upwards of 2million or more workers/engineers in the continent. The West has a lot of catching up to do. Especially with the African Union's recent opposition to the bombing of Libya...

Agree. There are plenty of countries with people that need "liberating" yet we ignore them when they're oil free.

The US doesn't care about international humanity anymore than they care helping those within it's own borders. It's pretty pathetic actually.

BEIJING — A plot to seize Libya's oil. A warning to the world that the West will cling to dominance. A flagrant display of hypocrisy over human rights.

China's ruling Communist Party has countered the West's air strikes against Libya's Moammar Gadhafi with a torrent of such criticisms in state-run newspapers and television, mounting a propaganda campaign to deter the public from any temptation to copy Arab insurrections against authoritarian rulers.

The media drive shows how nervous China's leaders are about any challenges to their firm hold on power, and especially about online comments that Western action in Libya shows the supremacy of international human rights standards, said Li Datong, a former editor at a Chinese party newspaper.

"The Chinese Communist Party sees a big threat in the idea that human rights and democratic demands can outweigh state sovereignty. They want to counter all that," said Li, who was forced out of his job for denouncing censorship.
