China endures worst cold wave in 140 years

Quote from jem:

so you are no longer claiming they agree man made co2 causes warming...

that is start...

next you need to understand... 97% is a made up number... referencing some respondents to a poll whom were published in pro agw journals.

Finally, did you not just make some stuff up about 97% of organizations.

Wow you are dense.

American Meteorological Society
"It is clear from extensive scientific evidence that the dominant cause of the rapid change in climate of the past half century is human-induced increases in the amount of atmospheric greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide (CO2), chlorofluorocarbons, methane, and nitrous oxide." (2012)7

American Physical Society
"The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth’s physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now." (2007)8

Quote from Arnie:

I guess you can't see it, but what you posted is really an argument against your case. All the data cited above that USED to support a rise in temps, now shows stable to declining temps. After all, if “Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures"., Then stable to declining temps should prove the opposite, right?

You can't have it both ways. If rising temps prove warming, then stable to declining temps prove no warming.

Here's the bottom line. All these models predicted way more warming then we are seeing. So if the models don't fit reality, the models are wrong. How on Earth can you say the science is settled when the science keeps changing?

The earth has not stopped warming.

The slowdown is a bit of a mystery to climate scientists. True, the basic theory that predicts a warming of the planet in response to human emissions does not suggest that warming should be smooth and continuous. To the contrary, in a climate system still dominated by natural variability, there is every reason to think the warming will proceed in fits and starts.

But given how much is riding on the scientific forecast, the practitioners of climate science would like to understand exactly what is going on. They admit that they do not, even though some potential mechanisms of the slowdown have been suggested. The situation highlights important gaps in our knowledge of the climate system, some of which cannot be closed until we get better measurements from high in space and from deep in the ocean.

Again, so much for "settled science".

How can people who call themselves scientists get behind this hoax?

They want to understand why the world's ice is melting?

400 PPM CO2 Update!

‘Coldest summer on record at North Pole — Highest Aug. Arctic ice extent since 2006 — Record high Aug. Antarctic ice extent — — Slowest tornado season on record — No global warming for 17 years

The extent is higher, the mass is lower.

Drought decreases tornado activity.

We've been through a 17 year pause before, and warming resumed. Prudence is in order.

We've been through phony science before. Global cooling? New ice age?
1970
Which is why you should be cautious about believing warming is over.

Edit: but, about that global cooling...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling

"Global cooling was a conjecture during the 1970s of imminent cooling of the Earth's surface and atmosphere culminating in a period of extensive glaciation. This hypothesis had little support in the scientific community, but gained temporary popular attention due to a combination of a slight downward trend of temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s and press reports that did not accurately reflect full scope of the scientific climate literature, i.e., a larger and faster-growing body of literature projecting future warming due to greenhouse gas emissions. The current scientific opinion on climate change is that the Earth has not durably cooled, but undergone global warming throughout the 20th century.[1]"
