China did something it's never done before to warn the US about fighting North Korea

As the US and South Korea work together on the Korean Peninsula's largest-ever military air power drill, China did something it has never done before that suggests it's considering backing up North Korea in the event of war.

On the same day the US and South Korea started training for air raids on North Korea, China's air force staged drills along "routes and areas it has never flown before" with surveillance aircraft over the Yellow and East seas near the Korean peninsula, according to the South China Morning Post.

While China needs to exercise its constantly expanding and modernising military, the drill had another purpose.

"The timing of this high-profile announcement by the PLA is also a warning to Washington and Seoul not to provoke Pyongyang any further," Beijing-based military expert Li Jie told the Post.

With 24 US stealth aircraft in South Korea for the Vigilant Ace drills, China's use of stealth aircraft and staging of a military drill sends a clear message.

The US and South Korea have up to 260 aircraft training to take out important North Korean targets in a realistic way that simulates how an actual air war would crush Kim Jong Un's regime.

While China agrees with the US about the dangerous nature of Pyongyang's nuclear weapons progress, it fundamentally disagrees on the preservation of the North Korean state.

China, North Korea's main trading partner, could effectively defund Pyongyang and bring about regime collapse, as the US has asked it to. But China's national interest lies in keeping North Korea as a buffer state to prevent the US from staging troops on its borders.

In the Korean War of the 1950s Chinese-backed North Koreans fought US-backed South Koreans in a brutal war that remains technically ongoing.

China's latest military drill near the Koreas may serve as a reminder to the US that the two military powers could find themselves on opposite ends of a war once again if North Korea is attacked.

If I'm not mistaken, they (China) said that they would remain neutral if the DPRK initiated. Apparently not so if the US, ROK or Japan initiates.

Anyway, it seems to me that only the DPRK wants to start a war. IMHO, the US would be happy if all of this nonsense went away (i.e. fat little rocket man stops launching missiles).

Thats correct.China has said they will defend NK if The US attacks them.

I disagree.NK has the right to develop and build its defenses just as The US does imo.The US has 30,000 troops in SK for the sole purpose of war with NK and regularly holds live fire land, sea and air war drills for war with NK and has a history of attacking and overthrowing sovereign regimes.

Yes, of course. Every nation headed by a psychopath that tortures it's citizens for the tiniest infraction of state ideology has the right to develop weapons of mass destruction. I don't in principle dispute their "right" to do it, I dispute the "wisdom" of letting them do it.

And frankly, I don't think it has anything to do with defense. He already has the checkmate with Seoul. Having a viable ICBM with a reliable warhead makes a hell of a bargaining chip. Just another way for Kim to extort. That's really all he knows.

US police kill US citizens without consequences. The US imprisons more of its citizens than any other developed nation where inmates are dehumanized, raped, beaten etc.The US regularly jails innocent people who cant afford good defense attorneys. The US jails its citizens for the for profit prison systems that buys politicians. If The US can have weapons of mass destruction than any other nation should be able to.

Yes, I agree, injustice is here also. But don't you love this country (rhetorical) ? Change the US to the DPRK, and you would probably be looking at a death sentence, except for the last sentence (if you could access the internet, which I don't think you could, at least not as a normal citizen).

There remains the issue of radioactive fallout from even a conventional attack by the US.

Trump was pushed by an interviewer back in 1999 to understand that striking a NK nuclear facility with Seoul so close was ruled out by the US military.

The dirty bomb effect had utterly not crossed his mind before he was calling for a bombardment.

And if China took any military action that resulted in the death of Americans, that would pretty much make your day wouldn't it?

Lets hope the guy you voted for doesn't get Americans killed. If China takes action it will be because Trump took action first.
