China Computers

Generalization doesn't help your case and your arguments. You basically said your wife and her family could not be trusted, just like ALL their countrymen and countrywomen.

In the US we also don't trust the government, or certain companies, and we have crooks. Happens in every country. But my point is that protecting intellectual property and promoting its value could also be good for China. Not everyone there wants to steal, but if that's the common mentality then everyone uses this as an excuse. At least the US has evolved beyond the commune mentality, everything belonging to everyone, and people not having individualism or individual talents. In the west we understand our own value, and respect others'. And people prefer to live in countries that do not promote stealing and allow them to become better humans as well. So the same person will act differently in China than in the US.

as I said before, if trump really wants to win the trade war with china, he needs to unite with allies, and negotiation becomes developed countries vs. china, instead US vs. china. but trump is a business man, has no sense of international politics. he only cares about money. so he opens the trade book, and use magnifier to search who has trade surplus with USA. immediately, he opens fire against all allies. around the globe, trump found there is only one man who has no trade surplus with USA, that is, the rocket man of north korea.

it may look like trump gains a little bit enforcing tariffs on allies, but USA loses much more since the allies will not cooperate with USA on china issue. Actually it is in their interest if china and USA escalate the fight.

easy for you to say.. allies gonna fall on your laps.

look at a pie chart of GDP by country... huge fall off after the big 2 US and China.. how many rounds of negotiation already with China? flip flop back and forth? first all you'd spend maybe just as much time to build up some allies, then every time there is a turn in the negotiation you have to get all these parties in line... allies may quickly turn into enemies...

the most efficient way is to go direct after the no.2 right now, when you still have a sizeable advantage as no.1.

we already have something disguised as 'allies'... it's called WTO.. and apparent it aint working.

ok maybe one with higher quality on paper, how about NATO, with mostly western countries.... that one aint working either until Trump forced the to pay up the protection fees.

since US Dollar is global currency, actually it is a must for US to have trade deficit with the world. Otherwise, the world will be in short of USA dollar to support business deals.

I totally agree that Trump is bad negotiator and not even smart in general.
I’m also not smart about such stuff, but I hear China complaining that we’re holding them hostage, while I’m at least smart enough to understand it’s them holding the US companies hostage for much longer.
And China’s goal is to outsmart everyone, and I haven’t seen even smartest people in the world solving this problem in the past 10-20 years.
That’s why I have enough of this BS and I’m ok with brute force and high cost of solving the problem.
If Trump is approaching this in a dumb way than it’s because all the smart people failed us and allowed the situation and him to get to this point.
Fair enough. The strength of our nation depends on people such as yourself who come here and contribute their skills and opinions.

LMAO forced technology transfer ... if they want to do business in China.

It is written anywhere in law that U.S. (and other foreign national) corporations HAVE to do business in China?

countries have been known to choose different paths

- communist vs democratic
- inches, feet, miles vs mm cm m km
- drive on the left vs drive on the right

so now
china computer vs US computer

Trump has caused long term damage to US tech companies by using their products as chips in his demented game. China is obviously fully capable of replacing all dependencies on external software companies, it's just that nobody was dumb enough to steer them into doing so yet.

Segregation is exactly what's needed, and desperately. A key plank of China's grand strategy is "divide and capture": undermine and break up competing alliances and blocks by enticing weaker members with economic carrots, then wield the stick after a few years once the cost of defying China has grown unbearable.

Microsoft losing some sales is a bargain, if it means cutting off the CCP's gradual infiltration of the West.

how can china gov replace windows?

Is that sarcastic? You can easily use Linux these days. I use both (Windows on PC, Linux on laptop) and Linux is far faster and more responsive. Windows memory usage is a joke btw.
