China builts world's longest bridge

Even though this is a major disaster, japan was lucky because the epicenter was not in tokyo but 230 miles away. If it was close to tokyo, the deathtoll would be in the hundreds of thousands to millions.
I believe the deadliest earthquake in history was the 1976 tangshan china, it was a back to back 7.8-8.0 quake with the epicenter right next to the major city. Death toll was anywhere from 0.5 to 1 million. Tokyo is much more densely populated and this was a 8.9 scale quake, the devastation would be unimaginable.
If they would have finished that bridge a little earlier, they could have run the marathon on it for the Olympics. Now that would have been something..
Sorry to burst your bubble but nowadays most countries in the first world are able to buil a bridge like that. Denmark and Sweden have done it 20 years ago and their combined population is less than 15 million people. So 1 billion Chines built a long bridge and all of the sudden the whole world needs to stop and go WOW! Get a fucking life! It is a bridge just longer. Get over it.
Let's face it the only reason there is so much construction is because since 1800's China had been the sick man of Asia. First you guys were being economically fist pumped by Europeans and then the communists with the Cultural Revolution and similar undertakings did the country in. Basically China has not achieved shit in the last 200 years and now all of the sudden in the last 2 decades the infrastructure had been improved and all of the sudden you guys are IT? LOL! Everybody is smoking, the country side looks like an epidemic of cholera just swept through, most people are piss poor or work like slaves in factories producing stuff for Americans and Europeans, there is no political freedom of any kind and most are happy as long as there is enough to eat and a little to send to poor old folks back home in villages that are falling apart. That and cheap pop music, some gambling and internet connection to play silly games in the internet cafes and people are content. Sounds like a modern day slavery but hey if you are happy then why masa on this side of the ocean should complain right? They all get excited when the infrastructure gets improved. Wake up asshole, that fast railway, new airport, and bridge was build to take your product out of the country and provide it for close to nothing to Europeans and Americans. Chances that most of the Chinese will ever use that airport, bridge or super fast train are slim to none, but hey if thinking that it was built for you gets you hard than who am I to stop your dellusions.
