I don't have any idea what this even means. Why is it again that I have "exactly zero credibility" and what is 100% self-inflicted?
The trade war was started by your guy which means you have no credibility in defending his actions. Pretty simple.

Ok, I'm not going to argue with you, my friend. I can see you're just itching for a fight again. I was wondering how long it was going to be before your hatred for Trump bled over to be openly hostile to me (I have tried to be supportive of you throughout our time here on ET and I still think the world of you). But it finally happened, and you'd rather attack me because I voted for Trump last time around - despite my clearly stating many times I did so as a no to Clinton and was hoping for a good candidate to choose other than Trump this time.
My best wishes to you, and I hope you find peace.
Please, have the last word.
Of course, as China and everyone else knows, except Trump supporters and our sociopathic narcissistic, tantrum throwing, child President-- China is in the driver's seat now. Trump will try and lie his way out of the mess he has made for himself, hoping that the U.S. trade relationship can be normalized before the election so he can take credit for a "huge" victory and "so much winning you wouldn't believe."
The danger for the U.S. now, however, is that China, if China wants to, could ride out the next 14 months. If they want to humiliate and punish Trump, they can. If they do, the economic damage done to, and chaos created within, the U.S. economy will be quite serious. Hopefully, they won't go quite so far as that. China is the adult in this room. They will want a normalization of trade relationship brought about by diplomatic negotiation. They want to end this silly tit for tat, tariff game that Trump started via his seat of the pajamas policy by early morning tweet. We'll know the situation has reached the crisis stage, if we get to the point that we'd rather have even Berlusconi in charge.
Foreign minister Geng Shuang denies that any calls took place — in response to Trump’s lies that China had made two calls while Trump was at the G7.
Hu Xijin is a known mouthpiece of the Chinese political structure and a Chinese apologist. While a data point, I don't put any more confidence in his tweet - posted on "Forex Live" than I do any other uninvolved party.
Anyone not Trump is lying
