Childhood

I miss Lulu. I used to drop my pencil on the floor and when I picked it up, I looked up Lulu's skirt. This lasted until I set a record for dropping my pencil the most times in an hour in 5th grade. The nun moved Lulu to the front of the class.

I miss looking innocently into my parents' eyes

Now that I'm older and jaded, I can't do that

Youth is a gift........old age is a burden.........graceful death is peaceful

There was no Nintendo. I miss playing sandlot baseball all day, going home to put on a uniform and play organized baseball all evening. I miss riding my Stingray bike, doing wheelies. I miss battleing my friends with garbage can lids and sticks while we pretended to be Vikings. I miss being scared to death watching Shock Theatre. I miss the blissful ignorance of it all.

Lol, showing your age? Ditto on the baseball, vikings and here it was Count Gregor's Saturday Night something or other, it's that memory thing......... I miss hearing the National Anthem or Magee's High Flight as each TV station signed off for the night.

Maybe it was youth but everything seemed more innocent them.

I miss kick the can every night during the summer with all the kids in the neighborhood. I miss going out at half time during Packer games and playing football with my neighbor and his brother. We had a full playbook in our heads and practiced the plays all the time. I miss going to Brewer and Packer games with the same neighbor and our Dads. Both Dads would be smoking their pipes, swapping tobacco, and driving with their knees while they loaded their pipes. Of course none of us had on seatbelts.

I guess apart from the innocence, I miss:

-playing original Nintendo
-exploring my neighborhood with friends on our bikes
-after school fights
-Christmas

I missed playing Street Fighters II in the convenience store across the street from my junior high school. During lunch time, everyone would run to the convenience store to play. Everyone were cheering each others on like they were watching a spectator sport.

Kids shouting, "that was cheap!" lol
