Chicago Tribune from 1934. Amazing

Quote from kut2k2:

You're the fuckwit who failed to note the Depression had been well underway before the cartoon. You talked like it was the policies of 1934 that caused the Depression. Did it take all 9 of your IQ points to come up with that?

I think you missed the point of the cartoon. It does not address the start of the depression, it deals with the government's response to the depression. In the early 30's and 2008-2009 the governments response was to throw money at the problem. The whole point of this topic is how the cartoon from 1934 rings true today.

Especially the bust the government and blame it on Capitalism part.

Everything the government touches turns to shit.

Quote from Ricter:

How did WWII get us out of the GD?

It created so much production and services work that women were needed on airplane/tank assembly lines.

The unemployment rate during WWII in the U.S. was probably less than 2%.

The cartoon was from 1934. Nice reading comprehension. Did it take all 60 of your IQ points to come up with that?

Obviously, you know nothing but the textbook spoon-fed version of the story anyway. Hoover's attempts to stop it were as wrong-headed as Roosevelt's, he just wasn't quite as Draconian. He paved the way for more interevention, though.

The unemployment rate in the US at the start of WW2 was 17% which indicates that all the spending did nothing to help and probably made it worst.

Sad part is FDR is Obama's hero.
