That's what they normally do on the Southside.

Now, had that been the Northside...all the way up Evanston...you will not see that happening. They would have been out to stop the looting and making arrests. There will have been no sleeping on the job, no making popcorn, no drinking coffee nor watching the coverage on the cell phone.

Were they allowed to arrest protesters? Or were they instructed to stand down in the face of rioting and looting? Probably the best thing for them to do was chill out and go make some popcorn given the circumstances.

Chicago amazed me with the sheer numbers of uniformed people around in the South Loop. I liked the cafe across the street on Dearborn and most of the time something like half the place was filled with every kind of uniformed city personnel you could imagine. Not just cops but other types that I couldn't identify. They've got a uniformed position in that city for everything.
 
Union has an explanation and like I said, they were simply doing as they were told. It's the way it goes in Chicago. Police reforms in progress since 1960 as the video says, all under the watchful eye of democrats who have controlled the city since the very early 1900's. It'll be different this time though, guaranteed, They promise, scouts honor, sworn oath, hand to god...

I don't know what that "defense" of the officers video was supposed to prove other than what we already know. ie. If you are a dem politician (in this case, Congresssman Bobby Rush) you can get an entire squad of officers to immediately come over to protect you and your office. The rest of the folks have to work quite a bit harder to get a police response.

Even if we were to accept the assertion that the looting was over when the men were there (which I don't) there were plenty of black business owners needing extra security nearby to help give them protection and a feeling of safety at that time. I wonder how many black small business owners had half a dozen police officers camped out at their business after the looting was over.

They've been saying that since the late 1930's. Democrats have too much deep seated roots in Chicago and not because they spearheaded JF Kennedy into office but because of the unions, strong corporate sponsorship...mainly Democratic.

The only way a Republic can get in there is if all the Democrats leave Chicago and move to the suburbs and they then find someone like Abraham Lincoln (a republican)...bring him / her into Chicago. It'll be more like a corporate takeover or maybe a St. Valentines Massacre...like what was pulled off by Capone gang in an effort to control the liquor organization which by the way had connection to politics (father of JF Kennedy...whom invested heavily into the Scottish distilleries at the end of Prohibition).

Chicago likes its corruption...its an important deep seated part of that city just as much as the Chicago Cubs or the Chicago Blackhawks. :D

It doesn't matter who's running the city...Democrats or Republicans...they still need to sleep in the bed with those in the criminal world to get elected to office.
