Cheesecake Factory won’t make April rent because of coronavirus restrictions

It's a real catch-22. A restaurant business, as others have mentioned, is usually very thin margins and closing for even a week could put some under. Even at 2 weeks and beyond, it was probably a complete game changer. At this stage and with the panic set in, I'm afraid that even if everything were declared open per usual, the traffic would be a fraction of what it was (not just because of job losses, but the fear of crowds of people). Still, all of it, too big for me to still comprehend.

You can see the fear, people don't want to go near people this damage is going to take years to undo for some / most so anything involving crowed places and especially food are screwed.

$16 for a pasta entree and $10 for a few sliders on a plate appetizer. Their expenses must be atrocious. Oh, the humanity.

Oh, wait. The Cheesecake Factory made payments of $88M and $308M to Sam Fox in 2019, and now six months after that deal closed they’re going to skip out on RENT PAYMENTS?

To summarize, Cheesecake Factory just spent $441M in 2019 to acquire another restauranteur - so now they’re bitchin about not being able to make rent ? :p:finger:

Started to hear of suicides already, lost jobs, no money, locked in, scared of a little ( size of ) Virus, this will kill more than the virus but nobody will report on it.

You do realize the contradiction in your statement ?

Seriously, how did you hear about something that's been talked about since January if "nobody" is reporting on it ?

Most of the news I've been hearing about is stimulus packages, not enough medical equipment, FEDs unlimited printing money power, locked in, depression, increased anxiety and even suicides including increasing 911 calls by those already with mental illness.

It's on social media, TV news including financial networks and world leaders are warning about such including President Trump. Heck, even the medical systems are currently overwhelmed and asking for nurses / doctors / medical staff recently retired from their jobs to return back to work...they're being offered bonuses if they return to work.

Thus, if you truly feel like "nobody will report on it" is ludicrous considering its already being reported.

Haven't seen it reports anywhere yet, but I've got a mate who works for the NHS, 3 suicides last 24hours in this area, which is more than typical being 0.5 so every other day.

Nobody kills themselves after a 2wk unpaid vacation, and if they do, we're better off protecting the genes of old people

But they do make ok cheesecake. Best in the world is Junior's in NYC.

There's gotta be a joke in this story. Govt bailout, "order to go so we can pay our rent " :p
