Perhaps a rephrasing would be better....

If you believe you can be successful, you may or may not be right.

If you believe you cannot be successful, you are absolutely right.

The most useful aspect of believing that you can be successful is in helping you to persevere. Without that belief, you'll almost certainly quit before you've done the requisite amount of work.
