Actually, IBs own charting, a program called IBCharts and the charting with order entry programs like NinjaTrader and ZeroLineTrader all have there place as well. Have fun checking them out.
That said, for basic charting needs, IBCharts does have a nice clean interface with many options that I would like to see Ensign adopt. Unfortunately, Ensign is more concerned with adding "cool" rainbow psychedelic features than cleaning up their outdated clunky interface. But, we'll save that topic for another day!!
I'm not a fan of QT either (I use Sierra). However, since both are so cheap, there's nothing to stop you from test-driving both and making up your own mind.
