You PIKER! I paid $1500 for my first 17" CRT... an NEC 5FG. It ran 10 hours a day for 8 years before it went dark.
 
Fry's had a 19" for around $200. They also had 80 GB Hitachi and Creative Speakers for free after rebates. I sprang for the latter but skipped the monitor as I wasn't clear that the response time was as good.

My guess is that Dell will have a big sale on stuff in January as they did last year. Probably worth it to wait -- i.e. you can get a mid line PC and the monitor for about $200 more than the unbundled monitor if my memory is accurate.

Most interesting item was a $349 laptop that sold out before 7 AM at the store I was at...low end processor, hard drive, and 256MB ram.
 
I have never purchased refurbished and don't know what would be the deal for these respective LCD monitors.

Bad pixels, etc?

Dell sells a ton of refurbished....so possibly great deals??

P.S. Any comments on springing for a 1000:1 contrast ratio at Brightness: 250 cd/m2 ?
