No, this is inaccurate. It is all relative devaluation. The only true measure of QE is inflation. While the dollar has been debased significantly, inflation has remained tamed (it is probably the sole factor that the Feds look when determining how far they're willing to push the dollar).

I know what you mean, and I am ok with it. That is why I used the phrase "another form of inflation." When a nation's currency is "debased" as you put it, it is as you say "relative" to other currencies that remain steady or strengthen. I get that. The EFFECT, however, is similar to classic inflation with respect to imports; imports from other nations are "more expensive," in the sense it takes more of the debased currency to buy the same measure of import. It is the process on how we get the same perceived effect on the buyer and would-be buyer.
I stand ready to allow a more down-in-the-weeds, amateur economist to apply more accurate specifics. My intent is to keep it simple, but I don't mind those so compelled to lay it out in more detail, even if to provide links that lead to reading that is not too esoteric. My recommendation, however, is to do that in the Economics forum, as this thread is not suitable for that lecture. Just providing a link here to such post would be great.
