Charting software

Hello and thank you for your time.

I am writing some programs in java. Part of what I would like to look at is tick level price patterns in FX graphically. Can anyone recommend a free charting software, preferably opensource, that will be useful?

NinjaTrader can do this.

After downloading from here - http://www.ninjatrader.com/webnew/download_trading_software.htm

You can connect and get unlimited free real-time and historical FX data. Instructions below.

Start NinjaTrader
From within the Control Center window, select “Tools > Account Connections...”
In the Account Connection Set Up window, press Add...
Follow the instructions provided in the Connection Wizard
Select "Use NinjaTrader servers" for Historical Data
Select “Demo” under the Mode option list
Complete the wizard
From within the Control Center window, select "Tools > Options > Misc"
Set the value for the property "Quote currencies (FX) in" to "Pip"
You will now be able to connect to a free real-time rate simulation account
via the Control Center window “File > Connect” menu
