Chart softs that can receive DDE data

Hi, are there any chart softs that can receive DDE data and draw charts by them?
I know Multicharts can do that,
but one cannot use Multicharts for free during more than a month.
I want to know other softs.

Amibroker can but that will require a one time users licence fee. Think you'd need the professional( worth it anyways). Think it's like 349$ now for w lifetime licence and 2 years of upgrades.

As far as free. I've never seen too many chart packages that had customizable data entry for free.
Most free packages are some sort of Silverlight or Java plugin to a browser.


Could look into R or Python. Sure theirs some scripts out there for some dde feeds.

I've never used dde myself as don't think it has capabilities of any hisotorical data import, just streaming live quotes.

I think it all depends on what way you want to trade.

I am with IB and use TWS, but have also tried Ninjatrader and recently MedvedTrader, as I used to use Quotetracker in the past.

However, all of the above do not allow me to set up my chart exactly the way I want it, and to me that is very important, as the chart is my main trading tool.

I have found that Excel is brilliant for chart customizations, and currently working on this simple chart for daytrading, as I am testing a new approach for daytrading ES with Options and outright Future contract.

I may expand this and add some additional charts such as 5 min and 30 min, but for now, I am only interested in this one chart, and as Excel is not great at handling lots of data, I may not add any more charts.

Unless you need a special customized chart, then it is probably best to use your broker software.

I decided to try the 5 min chart tonight, and it is working out OK so far.

Market open shortly, so will see how charts behave with live data feed, which I am expecting no major issues with.

I tested last nite with booktrader, and Excel is lagging by about 1 to 2 seconds, so might not be good enough for scalping, but fine for other trading.
