Here is little help to understand the problem: The money to cover market valuation of all securities issued and currently traded have not been printed yet.

You need somebody to create artificial liquidity to create illusion that there is buyer/seller in the market and HFT fills the VOID.

They are not going to do it for free because there is cost and risk to it.

HFT concept is as old as markets and it was re-labeled as HFT just recently just to keep with modern times and better technology.

Wasn't there always a time and place advantage for exchange members? Now anyone can post a two way market if they've got the infrastructure to do it. Participants are still buying access, but it's going to computers and data feeds instead of exchange memberships.
