Actually I don't much care about what rights a thug has and neither do most people, especially white people, which is why we have far less violent crime in our communities. A violent criminal gets gunned down by a cop in my neighborhood, we say job well done.
To your point of the white homicidal manic. Had he been shot dead at the scene I doubt a single person would have bitched about it, and I know for a fact there would not have been any riots, looting or protests of any sort in his defense. That's the difference.
