What is a "no brainer" for you is not necessarily so for me. I don't know if I have an IrDa port. As far as I know, I do not. I could be wrong since I do not know what that is, but I did not see it listed on the features of the laptop I bought. My printer is a few years old. I doubt it has anything other than a parallel port.

Double check; this spec sheet lists an IrDa port: http://computers.cnet.com/hardware/0-1027-417-20796826.html?tag=dir

The printer, if a cheaper ink jet, may not have one, but my 1996 HP 5P does, so you can't go by age as its old technology.

If both have infra-red, you simply line the two up visually and print. Probably some minor software setup involved first.

Thanks Max. I got confused enough to call toshiba. I gave the url to the support guy. He was confused too. So he took me to the following:

I know it says <2410> not 2415 but if you look on the top left, or go back a page you will see it is indeed the 2415. (I think).

Obviously CNET had an error. I was surprised about the infrared port, but knew (from my wife's palm) that it was possible it was there and I never noticed it. But I was pretty sure I would have noticed an SD port. Alas, I have neither. Now I just need a techie to set up my wireless to share the printer. Maybe the guy at my office will moonlight.

As for my HP Printer, it is actually newer than 1996, but I guess a lower end model. It's a 722. No IR that I am aware of.

I agree, however, there's far more to the differences between the lower end processors (Celeron and Duron) and their full fledged counterparts (Pentium and Athlon).

Cache does make a significant difference, especially between the example and the desired performance of concurrent applications running together....

Having the Cache to trade with real Cash is one simple problem that can be corrected at this stage, instead of later when all sorts of software performance problems prevents unwinding a profitable position.

Bummer, RS7. But apparently not a misprint, the 2415-S205 used to have one. The same Toshiba web site you provided shows a driver for it: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/...ineID=cccgadchhjlhkmfcgfkceghdgngdgli.0&ct=DL

Wonder why they dropped it; so easy to print from while on the road.

If you don't need a laser, then hell, an easier solution would be to just buy a USB ink jet for yourself for a buck ($100) or so.

Hmmm. Gets more and more confusing. This is not the first contradiction I have come across in the Toshiba documentation.

Hard to tell if they used to have an IR port or not. Looks like they did.

As for the printer, the easy solution is of course just to put whatever I need to print on a floppy (which the 2415 definitely has, and I like that feature), and print on the HP ink jet now hooked up to my son's desktop, or if I need a laser, just take the disk to my office. Kind of old fashioned in the wireless age, but it still works.

BTW, I was just reading reviews of laptop support in PC World Magazine. Only two companies were rated "good"...IBM and Toshiba. So even with all the misinformation, I can't imagine how the support is with the ones they rated fair and poor. None got an "outstanding" rating. Same with desktops. No "outstandings"...good on IBM, Apple and Dell. And then they go on to say how bad Dell is

What is amazing about Dell laptops is that an old 500Mhz will command around $500 on Ebay when brand new laptops are in the Sunday paper for $699.97 after rebate.

Maybe people just pay too much on Ebay. Must be a lot of impulse buyers. My brother told me he recently sold a radar detector that listed for about $400 when it was new several years ago. I don't know what he paid, but I am sure it wasn't list. He got $360 for it on Ebay.... along with a "thank you" from the buyer!!!

I can believe people really are making a career out of selling junk on Ebay.
