Prior the Covid pandemic less than 0.1% of the U.S. population considered themselves to be anti-vaxxers. The majority of these anti-vaxxers were naturalist, crunchy-granola, don't shave armpits liberals with all sorts of other flacky views.
Thanks to the MAGA crowd, being anti-vax became a proud political symbol in America post-pandemic.
Over 41% of Republicans refuse to take Covid vaccines. At least
30% of the U.S. population as anti-vax or don't trust the vaccine --
all of this driven by fabricated misinformation.
The traditional anti-vax clowns in the U.S. such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have viewed these past couple years as a golden age to grift money. They quickly converted themselves from liberals to MAGA conservatives and worked to grift as much money as possible off the Trump sheep -- all the while promoting outrageously incorrect anti-vax claims.
Of course, as being directed online by their anti-vax leaders, this has led to a very high number of completely fabricated claims being submitted into VAERS regarding the Covid vaccine. Most estimates state that at least 50% of the submissions are completely fake in the past 18 months.
Also the volume of VAERS submissions has gone up as the CDC has urged legitimate medical institutions to submit information and not ignore the requirement they file information on adverse effects --- even unrelated deaths that occur in recently vaccinated people.
Sadly -- the politically driven MAGA anti-vax views have folded over into other vaccinations against deadly diseases. Many of these diseases have started their resurgence in communities the U.S. including polio and measles. This is coupled with MAGA politicians pushing bills in state legislatures to require standard vaccinations for children to attend schools -- which will greatly undermine public health.
