CD-Rewritable How do I find data still on CD but overwritten

My Rewritable CD was overwritten with a couple of files I think because of a Virus on my computer. It says there are only 3 files on the CD but that there is no more room.
Does anyone know how to find the files that were there before. I believe they are still there but I can't see them.
