CCW holder arrested for leaving his gun locked up safely at home

Quote from Tsing Tao:

It's conversational tone that uses sarcasm to infer that it's 100% certain. But then, you already knew that.
You sound very argumentative (angry) again today. Let's just discuss the topic, and not get personal, ok?

I can't sound like anything when all you have is words on the screen, right?

(this is what I mean about nitpicking words when the meaning is obvious)

The meaning is not "obvious". People say "pretty much" when they understand that things might, just might, not be the way they think they are. It's a hedge. And a wise one.

When I took my class we were instructed to show our CCW with the DL when being pulled over and if asked inform the officer where the weapon was located..... I'm not sure if that has changed here since the data upgrade.... need to research it I guess.

Only been pulled over a couple of times since getting mine, never a ticket and never a problem.

The trooper was probably FutureCurrent's brother....

There was another post on Slash Dot (and here on P&R, I believe) last year about problems in Maryland for gun owners...

Since Maryland is heavily Democrat, you can believe it's originating at the top levels of the state - Governor, AG, head of State Police, etc. Kinda ironic since the state capital is blocks away from the US Naval Academy...

Quote from Lucrum:

I was wondering that as well.

There is a federal law that allows anyone, not barred from owning a firearm, to travel through any of the 50 states with an unloaded firearm. With ammunition in a separate compartment. I think the gun has to be locked in the trunk or maybe a case.

There's no way to run a 10-28 on a car, and find out the owner has a ccw in another state. And since the VICTIM here is a FL resident, the law would need to contact the FL dept of agriculture (believe it or not), to find the record.

As far as a trunked firearm, God only knows what kind of complete asshole someone may run into in Illinois, New Jersey, ny, mass, Maine, I could go on... Best thing is have the gun in the trunk, and do NOT talk to the Po'-leece. Want to search my car? Get a warrant! Btw, am I free to leave now?
