Trump accused George W Bush of lying about Iraqi WMDs and suggested he should have been impeached. I don't think that hurt him, but he went overboard on the squabbling with Cruz and Bush.

Cruz is the smartest guy out there, with Trump probably second. It wouldn't surprise me if Trump withers from the overdone insults and Cruz ends up on top before it is all over.

Not this year for Rubio, but he'll be a contender for some time to come.

Kasich looked like the grown-up, but doesn't project the smarts and forcefulness of some of the others.

Jeb is very much like Kasich. He'd be doing better if he was named Kasich.

Ben Carson oozes decency, he would make a great surgeon general.

Apparently Kasich is the only one not lying. (Depending on your preference for accounting methods) Conclusion: lying works better than telling the truth if your a Republican Politician stumping for votes.

It has been replaced by 6 warring tribes:

Evangelicals opposed to abortion, gay marriage, and science.

Libertarians opposed to any government constraint on private behavior.

Market fundamentalists convinced the “free market” can do no wrong.

Corporate and Wall Street titans seeking bailouts, subsidies, special tax loopholes, and other forms of crony capitalism.

Billionaires craving even more of the nation’s wealth than they already own.

And white working-class Trumpoids who love Donald. and are becoming convinced the greatest threats to their wellbeing are Muslims, blacks, and Mexicans.

Each of these tribes has its own separate political organization, its own distinct sources of campaign funding, its own unique ideology – and its own candidate.

What’s left is a lifeless shell called the Republican Party. But the Grand Old Party inside the shell is no more.

yep, that pretty much sums it up, and they can't even get 50% without all of them
40% will vote democrat even if Hitler is running
20% are fiscal conservatives
20% are evangelical
so it takes fiscal conservatives and evangelicals just to match the democrats 40%
But that is just nationally, states are a different matter

The only reason the GOP debate has more lies than the Democratic one is because there are 3 times as many liars on stage.

But the candidate to lie ratio is pretty much the same. Odd that you don't post the results of the democratic debates. But as you are so fond of mentioning, this campaign will obviously not be dictated by fact checkers.

It's the underlying theme for Hillary, "Everybody lies, the truth isn't as important as who you vote for."
