CBOE Complex Options Down / Technical Issues

I've spent whole day trying to submit and resubmit various RUT options combos, all failing, changing status, and often displaying error/triangle with exclamation mark.

Finally got through IB support and they pointed me to this bulletin describing technical problems at CBOE:

(Just FYI, if anyone else is/was having problems trading options combos today. Not sure whether this relates to IB+CBOE only, or CBOE in general)

I always submit the long first then the short, takes way less time. For stops the same vice versa


This issue applies only to combos, so not to individual legs.
I managed to fill some legs individually on basic combos, but I’ve not only got higher slippage but also some resting combo orders didn’t go through while the market was moving in the morning. Later it didn’t matter as the prices already changed beyond what I wanted to pay. (except for the few I’ve filled leg by leg)

On ic's/verticals I usually go for the long legs first (one at a time) then buy the short legs, saves time and no need for the underlying to move against you to get filled
 
I use IB and had problems routing to CBOE - same error. Supposedly fixed now

Please note that the technical issue which prevented the CBOE from accepting option combination orders from IBKR today has been resolved. As a result, we will return to displaying CBOE quotes on combination orders when the exchange reopens on July 7, 2020.

Interesting, I was sending many spread orders through out the day to the CBOE COB (although not to the RUT). No issues at all.

Must have been an IB exclusive issue. Did you try to route to another exchange?



IB doesn’t provide a routing option, only Smart router, so I didn’t have control.
(I could select specific route via API but didn’t use API for these orders)
