CBOE Bitcoin USD Futures

I wonder how they came to pick Gemini as the settlement price quote? I mean Winklevoss twins? really?

Probably safer than a Russian or Bulgarian exchange. We know that they have the coins at least.

Initial observation:

Gemini price: $15,380 (approx)
CFE futures Jan 2018: $15,750 x $15,800

So the Gemini price is at least $370 higher than the underlying Gemini price, which in turn is about $550 higher than the price at Bitstamp.

.

well. Arbitrage traders might be interested.

And its like the 7th most active exchange to boot.

BitFinex data goes with a bit premium,if you look closely;)

Now it's $401, a little higher than the $370 in my previous post

Gemini $15,449
CBOE Jan 2018 futures: $15,850 x $15,950

.

The Twitter post quoted in this ZH article claims that the futures are trading at fair value.

I'm not entirely convinced that this is the case, but maybe I need to do more investigation into this.

Separate to that, a good summary of the differences between the CBOE and CME contracts:
