Everyone has pretty much laughed at this already. Where have you been? Whether people feel they can quit working because of "free insurance" (which is paid by someone else) or they are fired, it results in less taxes, less economic growth, less labor force participation and more government spending.
Wishful thinking.
The government is the main protector of the Medical Cartel, so in that sense it is the MOST to blame for the terrible medical care results and costs in the U.S. The chief tools for controlling access and and holding competition in check are the FDA and various statutes passed by Congress. But let's not forget that our government is the best government that money can buy.
On this, we agree.

Agreed! They should have tried to ram through single payer, but they couldn't have succeeded because of a minority in their own party who were in the pockets of the insurance companies, Baucus for example. Instead they did the only thing they could do -- compromise to create an ungodly mess.
A few good things will come out of this though. One of them is that the Republican Governor's will be forced to embrace the expansion of medicaid, so you'll no longer have to get "knocked up" to qualify, and the unmarried working poor will finally get access to medicaid -- allowing us all to increase our subsidy of the Walmart Corporation! (There is just no way that the voters in the red states are going to let these idiots get by with turning down millions of dollars that would otherwise be injected into their economies, while paying for the expansion in the blue states!)
We agree on most things, but you've not noticed. The main area of disagreement, and please correct me if i'm wrong, is that while we are both libertarians in sentiment, you are a libertarian in practice as well. You would like to see government cut to the bare bones, whereas I believe that in a large multicultural country a mixed economy works best. The only Government Departments I want to see cut severely are Homeland Security, DEA, DOD, NSA and the CIA. And I want to see the Patriot Act repealed, lock stock and barrel!
I think you're exaggerating just a tad. You are a liberal who believes that many times government is the best solution to a problem. There is no way we can agree on "most things."
