The latter was supposed to convey sarcasm, but I messed up the punctuation. : )It has got to be massive, else spending money to eradicate it is negative ROI. A waste, like spending money on expanded voting hours.

The first thing we have to remember is the cops didn't just show up by accident. They were called after the complex's security guards could not control the crowd. So we are talking borderline riot at that point. The crowd was trespassing on private property. Rather than obey the cops and leave, they did what young blacks typically do, which is act out.
What exactly are the cops supposed to do at that point. Pack up and leave? I guess that is what the baltimore mayor would advise. Don't do anything to upset the thugs.
When a cop is trying to disperse a crowd that vastly outnumbers him and is hostile, the worse thing you can do is get in his face and start cursing him. That is considered interfering with him in the performance of his duties and it will get you arrested. Resisting arrest and fighting with him will get your head pinned on the sidewalk, possibly get you tasered and often shot.
I will call out the cops when they overreact or use excessive force, and we all know it happens. However, I am sick and tired of bogus cries of racism and police violence when the people complaining started the trouble and deserved to be arrested.
He's useful, though, in that he added to the pool of "white" people who think the incident was about race. I put that pool up against Tsing's pool of "black" people who said it was not about race, earlier.Your comment on what "young blacks typically do" is not appropriate. Crashing a pool party with friends is what young people often do, regardless of colour or background. I'm amazed how some of you so casually make such statements and think it is normal.
Most likely he was told he could have his pension and walk, or have his name dragged through the court of public opinon, whereby he would spend the rest of his life living in fear, as the famous cop who attacked an innocent black victim who supposedly was just minding her own business.
2 years ago they awarded him cop of the year.
Where I was a corrections officer, it was all "whites" and First Nations. I think you should add "red" to your list of skin colors that all act a certain way.Don't forget the standard death threats and bounties from the usual suspects. Why the fuck any white boy would be a cop in any place where nogs commit crimes is beyond me. Some nog attacks you in your cop car, tries to steal your weapon and engages in a life-or-death struggle with you produces a lose-lose situation. Kill the perp and you and yours live life on the run even if the whole event was recorded.
Not around here they don't.
