Her ARK funds are just the 21st century Manhattan Fund. Anyone can be a genius in a superbull market. A rising market lifts all ships.

Plenty of traders weren't geniuses though they were the opposite to some degree. The most popular trade on here was shorting the SPX from 2010-2015. March 2020 shorting was really popular even after the market made a floor. Buying ARK funds would have paid nicely most of 2020.

It is just useless to make a comment of the market with some hindsight.

What Ms. Wood and what we can do are different things. She has to put $$ where her mouth is. Her ETFs are more like mutual funds. She does actively trade like most "traders" do.

Sure a lot of traders did better than she did. But a lot more did poorly than what she did. Her style worked fine last year. Less effective this year. No one knows what to expect next year. She sure can continue to be the star. Or she could be another Bill Miller whose style doomed him or her.
