Quote from RXIS:
So now you have your list of symptoms and possible stressors or causes. The clinician should be able to obtain additional symptoms over the course of your treatment. Now it is up to the practitioner to find some objective signs. Who are you going to see regarding your problem? They will attempt to find clues to the puzzle with blood labs, xray, and MRI. In some cares, maybe even an ultrasound.
These tests may not be performed after your initial visit, but they will eventually be performed if you continue to be symptomatic.
The inevitable first line will be a general practitioner/family doctor/mid-level doctor. Your purpose here will be to get past the family medicine clinician and obtain referral and/or consults from specialists. What kind of specialist?
Neurologist, ENT(otolaryngologist), allergist or rheumatologist, ophthalmologist, and maybe even perhaps a psychiatrist.
Personally, given the wide spectrum of specialized care that may be necessary, I'd head for a large academic hospital. An academic facility often is more open to consulting a much larger number of professionals. They may even be the only access to such specialists and the procedures deemed necessary. It is much easier to have procedures performed at your "home" facility, then to have to obtain another referral and transfer to another facility. It may save you a large sum financially as well.
I have to leave but I will check the post soon.
