But the point of posting that was to show Zzzz1 that there are Technical Analysts working in financial institutions, of which he had no knowledge.

You realize TA At the institutional level is part of marketinG departments, right?

TA is great for explaining concepts to the masses who like pictures and are math illiterate.

Whoever draws the prettiest charts for the market ignorant clients, wins.

It has nothing to do with actual research.
 
If a Technical Analyst presents his opinion based on his research to clients, he is doing the same as a Security Analyst. That is what they are there to do.
 
Yet another thread derailed by Marketsurfer/David Goodboy's anti TA rhetoric.

@Baron - Isn't this along with his multi-alias behavior (referring to himself in the 3rd Person) some of the principle reasons "Marketsurfer" was banned? Not just the alias but the individual David Goodboy? It is just a matter of time before more and more threads get derailed. He is like recurrent cancer.

No, you are wrong but this is a common misunderstanding.

Trading decisions are not made by technical analysts EVER in an institutional setting.

TA may be used to explain/justify the decision to the clients. Retail mixes these things up all the time--and entire "financial death" cults spring from these fundamental untruths. The market is insideous in this manner as it needs you to "believe" the lies. Look how the apostles of the market like nobiAs try to stop the truth.
