Quote from Ghost of Cutten:
Capitalism does focus on the greater good, just indirectly by handsomely rewarding those who most efficiently provide what society most desires. By contrast, socialism rewards those who steal from others and produce little. The only requirement is to tweak the system so people don't get rewarded for destroying value - for example via huge bank bailouts, industry subsidies, union and public sector sweetheart pensions and salaries unaffordable under present tax revenues, expensive and immoral foreign wars, destroying liberties and so on.
People are occupying Wall Street because they lost money then stole from the taxpayers to bail themselves out - aka corporate socialist welfare.

Quote from zdreg:
'100% capitalism morphs into corporatism/crony capitalism"
not true. the above happens in mixed economies because the government interferes with the free market.
Quote from nutmeg:
I would guess probably every business in America sponsors some event for the betterment of society whether it's buying uniforms for little league baseball team or ballet, Shakespeare in the park in nyc.
Employee's of cos volunteer time, give blood all in behalf of the companies they work for. Ford donates autos to the police dept of Dearborn, Ford also donated computers to schools, as does or did bill gates. The list os probably endless. Wtf do people want?

Quote from Humpy:
I am expecting that the fatcat politicians in the UK will have to resore to students free Uni courses etc. to take the heat out of the protests. This will be done early next year after serious riots imho.
I don't support violence but the politicians do not seem to react to peaceful demos. Living in the plush suburbs, their butts are almost out-of-range.
