Allow me one more post, considering that you in fact derailed the thread and made about me, but that's another story. The great crime that that those of us who enlisted was that we believed in our country, and our government. You know, the government that once upon a time those that leaned left wouldn't trust. That mistake certainly did have a strong impact on my political views and as a younger man I leaned much more left of center. Stayed pretty much that was up until the turn of the century when it was apparent that I had no real representation in government, and that the democratic party had become a conglomeration of extremist fringe groups with a common slant towards socialism. That's when they lost me. So yeah, I'm a cynical old bastard who doesn't trust government, all of government. However, if you're going to force me to decide between an incompetent and cowardly republican party, and a democratic party which has gone off the rails hard left, I'm going with the republicans and regardless of what people may think, there is no real third choice in the rigged system we have.

I'm not a combat "hero", I was a wildlife preservation ranger in Africa. That means you go where you are not wanted. I also experienced being a civilian in very deep shit more than once. No back-up.

I get up every day, early and I work. I keep busy. You would be amazed at how a year can seem a decade to others. When I do something wrong and I have, I don't lay down in self-pity, I try and balance the books.
