A child that reads, and understands the underlying messages, may not tell his parents. And when those that do, do so; the parents may not raise a stink ... for a multitude of possible reasons. One being, being potentially singled out by people who think like you.
Even rape victims don't always complain. And those that do, may take decades to do so. And rape is much worse that realizing your kid has been reading racist books.
