Dr. Seuss is merely part of the broader issue.
Do you think publishers should cancel any book because a crowd of cancel advocates are howling for it to be cancelled? Where does this stop? Books from political figures? Books from entertainers? Books from athletes?
All they need to do is raise a cancel mob and things & people get canceled. Out of control.

It doesn't stop. It only stops when it meets a wall of resistance by normal people who go "I've had it with this shit". Until then, the envelope gets pushed further and further.

A publisher should consider the public's concerns, and decide for themselves whether they agree with the public.

Not even close to being over. What I am waiting on is for the extreme liberal elites to start taking plum roles, endorsements and business deals given to Clooney, Ruffalo, Messing, Milano, Streep et al to minority actors and actresses who are black, asian or hispanic. That is a long time coming. Those in Hollywood promoting cancel culture need to be given a dose of their medicine. Let us see the cry babies whine and cry when it happens.

The issue is that we fundamentally disagree on why the Seuss foundation cancelled these books. It was not because they proactively identified content which was “questionable”; it was because the cancel mob was howling for Dr. Seuss’ head. Sadly their move will backfire since cancelling these six books has merely emboldened the cancel mob to demand more.
It’s time for rational people to stand up and say this nonsense is bullshiat and clearly say “No”. The problem is that people who do this are the next target of the cancel mob.

Whether they identified it themselves, or it was brought to their attention is irrelevant. The decision to do what they want with their books is theirs...period. Why do you care what they do with it?
So what is the next thing to be “brought to the attention of a corporation” by the cancel mob. Which Nazi symbol does the Coke logo resemble? Which Nazi leader does the Pepsi symbol look like? Does anyone want to explore the beliefs of the Ford founder and cancel the corporation? Did a tech conference host a conference with stage shaped like a Nazi rune, let’s cancel all the corporate sponsors. I’ve already demonstrated that the stage for the Democratic debates is based on Nazi mythology — soon this cancel nonsense will backfire and come eat the left as well.
