As I said in an earlier post- even though it sounds extreme now- I don't doubt for a minute that Trudeau is considering calling out troops just as his daddy did in Montreal to put down the Quebecois protesters.

I see lefty press and lefty Canadians trying to discredit the protesters in Canada in various articles by repeatedly pointing out that the movement receives funds and support from Americans. Yeh, okay, and like so what? The BLM movement originated in America, was funded by Americans, and within days Trudeau and all lefty Canadians were BLM lackeys and mouthpieces and attending BLM rallies themselves. Translation: If some lefty idea originates in America, it will be wall to wall in Canada by the end of the month but anything else is big, bad, rich Americans interfering in Canada.
The analogy is bullshiite anyway because- much to the fake Canadians chagrin (not to be confused with real Canadians who should be supported) the trucker movement, did not originate in the US. Along with what you said regarding the Dalio post, how there won't be a real civil war, just more division, and the above saying gofundme is finished.... (that might be a little too presumptuous lol).. you got me thinking.
We've seen how the Trump Media stock is doing, and there's no denying 74MM folks voted for Trump and I suspect there's many many more now that are sick and fed up with all the bs by this Administration, Silicon Valley's Titans of Tech, and the powerhouse media outlets in general.
I have always thought about the markets in terms of macro-trends, looking forward, far beyond where the herd looks, and the best ways to make money off the insight. Hmmm.
Will brands spring up that play one side or the other? Will companies like CMG or SBUX be forced to pick a side? In a way Chik-fil-A has always done that, and look how successful they are.
And Snark, if you reread what Dalio said, he said it wouldn't be like civil wars of the past. He even alluded to the fact that "some" may die. We've already seen that in a way. The riots. I don't think he was implying something like Texas breaking away from the Union resulting in an armed conflict. And as you pointed out, regardless of location, there's a diversity of opinions.
I can see this happening. The way things are going culturally, the way most continue their swirl down the drain of replacing one's own critical thought with whatever bs their eyes are glued to on their phone, companies are going to find it harder and harder to remain on neutral ground.
There's opportunity there, both short and long.
