Can you see margin used by position on IB's TWS

Quote from ids:

The notion of a per position margin for futures is very qustionable. CBOT and ICE futures margins are SPAN-based. It is portfolio margin by definition. You can take a look at http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/p.php?f=margin&ib_entity=llc. Please click on Futures tab.

I guess when I turn KC into a covered call it goes from the exchange margin to SPAN, which apparently IB can't calculate and put in a margin report, at least not for NYBOT products? Weird. I'll do a trouble ticket.

BTW, what is the difference between the KT on NYMEX and KC on NYBOT. They are both listed with IB as offering C coffee but have different margin requirements. Why different exchanges for the same product?

1. Yes, trouble ticket is a good idea.
2. KT on NYMEX and KC on NYBOT (ICE) are different futures traded on different exchanges.

Try this - Open your account from within TWS using View - Account Management.
Then open Report Management - Margin Reports.

The position margin report is now located under Reports -> Risk -> Margin.

However, if you trade combos, this report is useless. It will indicate your total margin for the underlying, not for each combo.

Margin report is useless for combos - individual positions are not shown.png

Why then can I get that margin if I right click on a position and choose Contract Info -> Show Margin Impact?

Because IB has many many changes between July 2009 when I made the post and August 2016.
