Don't know what all you guy's are doing, but so far over 25 ES points a weeks seems to be no problem - really no matter if it's only specialist's and trader's money - the bank still accepts it!

Maybe you're just in the wrong market!!

I invite anyone interested to look on live while I trade for a couple weeks so you can get a "feel" for it.
 
Its been like this since Febuary i'd say. Sadly its down for the count and appears to not be coming back. An active session lately has less zing than the slowest holiday session of last year (and this is no exageration). Most days are completely themeless. The sector game is all but dead on the NYSE. Most stocks where there used to be an edge are completely void of large orders to take advantage of.

I won't go into all the reasons why day trading is so bad. If you are interested scan some of my most recent posts.

I think you can still make money daytrading if you make very very few mistakes and are selective. I made money last month day trading and am up slightly this month, but am down on the year still after having a very bad January and May.

Hopefully i can keep trending back to positive on the year. Some market fireworks would help the cause.
 
backpacking through Newark, NJ for years now!

We have the route already planned! My wife and I will be starting out at the Arco refinery just off the Turnpike -- we'll start in the Crude Unit and make our way through the Catalytic Cracker and end up by the Sulfur Recovery Unit where we'll enjoy a nice picnic lunch of tequila and chips.

Once refreshed we'll head on out to downtown Newark (very beautiful in August). There is a crackhouse on Main and 32nd that is a beautiful old Victorian. We'll tour this historic location and sample the wares and then scoot off to the sewage treatment plant for a swim!

Finally we'll head to the airport and ride the tram around and around while sharing an intimate moment. She's always wanted to make love on a real tram!

New Jersey and you -- perfect together!!

(glad to have left the east coast 15 years ago for Southern California)!!

There is always a set of methodologies that any reasonably intelligent person can come up with that can handle most market types... the trick is to correctly identify the given market conditions and hope that they persist... one key to this game is adaptability... an alternative to this kind of adaptability is simply to sit on your hands or reduce size, when you are trading a single method and it is eating your account alive...

This has me, Joe Swing Trader, really curious. From mid March to mid June the SPY and QQQ was generally up. For me this was Trading Fantasy Heaven. I'm curious: from what you guys are saying, that upward trend didn't really help
much? Wouldn't an upward bias help even if volatility is low? (I guess I'm showing my long-only, equity-only bias.)

very well said. i started early this year before the war. liquidity was not great. i switched to SPY. i developed a strategy and traded it. realized it wasn't catching alot of the action. developed a new strategy. liked it, and it worked. but i realized i was missing more of the movement. switched to a slightly better setup. now i'm working with 5min bars instead of 1min bars and i love it. there were shitloads of profits to be had today.

if you constantly find yourself struggling to pull money out of the market, figure out why. every market has inefficiencies. every market and every timeframe has its optimum strategy. you can either progress or regress. to progress, you must evolve and change with the market. to regress, just don't do anything, its that simple.

I'm having a good time trading the Dow mini. It still makes good swings during the day where you can pick off 30 points or so. What's wrong with that?:confused:
 
with you guys. I've been trading the es, the US, and some high beta stocks. Plenty of movement and range, especially in the am. Later in the day it can get frustrating so I have started to switch to paper trades after about 10:30 am to try and improve my trading unless a really juicy trade set up occurs, in which case I put some money to work.
