I think Overnight doesn't like the mental image of SimpleMeLike's black (male) ass.

Now if SimpleMeLike was a hot female, mentionings of her hot ass might cause less offense. But chances are it would all be fake, like Xela was.

I was just curious about the technical aspect of it.
If it was really possible to remove the opportunity by sharing what really works.

And I do get that ppl don't want to share smt they worked on for many years.
But some people say they don't wanna share it bc they think it would just stop working .

And as some said any arbitrage would quickly disappear.

I have a friend who found an arbitrage at a sports betting site and that opportunity disappeared after about 6month when the owner realized someone was making more money then they statistically should have had. And he didn't share it even with his own mother.

So it is definitely true for any money making arbitrage in any industry.

You are correct that since trend following is already well known, sharing it just once more probably makes no difference.

That doesn't mean that trend following can't get overcrowded though, and a look at trendfollowing returns over the last decade suggests this may have been the case for a while.

Trend following works because of underreaction to fundamental information. Once the strategy gets overcrowded, that underreaction turns into overreaction, and instead of helping adjust prices to their proper value the abitrageurs will start driving values beyond fair value (bubbles) which inevitably produces losses.
