Can Price Action Trading Be Automated?

So if I use range bars, say 8 tick bars, NinjaTrader can be programmed to count X amount of bars and if X is greater then 4, buy or sell?

there used to be problems when trying to backtest range bars. I don't know if they fixed that..?

Yes, this is what I am trying to do. Track and count price movements up and down, then take action if or else then. Still learning to program, but nice to know what can and what can't be done.
