Can I launch TWS and PREVENT it from auto-updating to a newer version?

THIS WORKED (!!)

Specifically, I opened the tws.vmoptions file in Text editor, and added the following:

dFST3Sw.jpg

Is this what you were advocating doing? (Either way...it seems to have worked?)

So I went to the PC that had auto-updated, un-installed TWS completely, then used the installation file I still had for a previous version (10.12.2x), ran the Install but before launching TWS for the first time inserted the line above in the tws.vmoptions file in the JTS directory, then launched TWS and it didn't auto-update (and the order submission that the new version had broken works again!) Suspect it will fix all the other nonsense this buggy update seems to have introduced as well.

Bear in mind that you should update when major versions change. (First numbers of the serial)
Do not try to control the beast for so long, or it will spit on your face. :D

You won't find any others. This has been discussed a lot of times. Unless you are a niche player in futures or options spreads IB is the only reasonably serious game in town.

Every now and then you see Robert Morse push his platform and services but his general intransparency and the lack of services and features that IB offers are just not there. Though not everyone needs access to global markets and all asset classes.

IDK, the tradestation api specs just don't look nearly as complete as IB's. They have no tiered commissions, no trial/paper account I can find, and their global solution just looks like it's reselling IB. I think ThinkOrSwim/TD is a better candidate but still probably a downgrade.

Anyone else have more suggestions? I'll give you a $50 finders fee if I switch.

Well, clearly IB doesn't run the kind of test suite on their software that some of us expect. So... although I'll agree you should give extra consideration when a major version changes, always use your judgment and do some testing beforehand anyway.

I'm still on 981.3 and wondering if they've fixed this simple stupid little thing yet; it's only been like almost a year. o_O

Well, I wouldn't call this an archive of old versions. After all, there's only one file and you can't browse for anything else. This just looks like the version they recommend you use with their stuff. Is there a directory with All Indexes directive enabled anywhere?
