Can anyone test the following strategy ??

I haver the signiture lines ignored in ET, even though I have one. Also, i do not click on a name of every poster to see if they have a website.

This was news to me.....

Michael - you are missing all the best parts of ET!

Actually, I was following some of abhay's posts on a few other threads, and became aware he had a site from those posts. I don't think he blatantly promoted it, but it is obvious that is the intent of his posts here on ET.

Hell, I was even interested and had it on my "to-do" list to take his trial next week. After the fiasco this afternoon, I think I will pass.

Oh well, another one bites the dust!!!

Why would you even be interested in his trial? would you really believe in astrological events to help you place your trades with? what an utter waste of time.......

Michael - I did not even know it was astrological until your previous post. Just another reason not to try the trial - as if posting revised charts after the fact was not enough!!!

I agree with you. Have a good rest of the week!

Yeah, to bring back attention to the original purpose I am posting here the Test results from 40yrOldtrader who has been kind enough to do some tests on the similar concept and the results are very encuoraging....

I am still working on my own code on esignal platform...

Any other code writers findings are welcome...

Test

Here's the results of a test using your idea from 2000 - 7/31/2003. I pm'd you with the parameters. Thank you for sharing.

I know I'm a little bit late to this party, but in looking at the results that 40yotrader provided it seems there were only 156 total trades. Yet this was tracked over a period of 3.5 years, or about 875 trading days. So, this system only trades once every 5 days or so? Doesn't sound right, particularly if the trigger point was say open +2 or open -2. Should be trading just about every day. What am I missing?

Trendy,

Valid observation. I think 40YO has done testing on almost similar concept but different parameters and that is not based on 2 point move...

But my strategy will be centered around this concept only if there is a +2 pt move then there is a likely hood of +4 pt also (yes I will have to figure out the optimum values in place of 2 and 4)

Electric,

He did in very short. That is why I said it is almost on the same concept but still quite different.

I don't know trades generated by his model so don't have details on where exactly the trades were triggered and exited...

I thuoght there are some good folks who can write good strategies and if they have not tried this idea may be interested in doing some research on this, like I have seen on some other threads.

To begin with my specifications will be something like :(1st scenario)

1. Say Prev closing price is S&P 995

2. Next morning if price goes to 997.5 then BUY and sell @1000 or @999.5 with STOP @992.5 (this figure can be played around with)

or if price goes to 992.5 then SELL which is to be covered @990.5 or 990 with a STOP @996.5

Whichever target hits first trade is completed on that and quit for the day.

Summary: if price rises +2 or +2.5 pts from prev close then BUY and Sell at Prev close + 4 or 4.5 pts with STOP = Prev close - 2 pts

If price drops by -2 or -2.5 pts then SELL at Prev close - 2 or 2.5 and cover at Prev close - 4 or -4.5 with STOP = Prev close + 2

Just one trade and quit after 1st trade completed.

abhay,

There is a trader nick name fish, who has a trading system based on opening range, and he is very successful.

Other than that, I know about a vendor from Striker Report brokerage house that generated more than 100% return ytd, and his system is based on previous days prices, and it quits after 1st trade is completed (6-8 trades whole month intra day). Hope, you find what you are looking for.

Do not get discouraged by all these idiots. To me if you look carefully both charts are similar, if you are just looking where the general trend will be as a guide. btw. I am skeptical about astrology.:)
