Can any leftist explain to me why Biden dropped out? They never said why.

No he didnt

He did explain some of his reasons, which include high-minded motivations. He mentioned putting ego aside and fulfilling his promise from 2020 to be a 'bridge' to prevent a terminal slide into Trump's personality cult.

Additional pros and cons of his decision will likely be detailed in his memoir, which will probably reveal a mix of personal calculation, pressure from allies, and other party dynamics factors. It won't be any startling revelation about health beyond the lesson of RBG.

If there's one thing I agree with libertarians on, it's that the US President should be seen as a replaceable and functional leader, without any godly mystique. Biden is setting an example.

He did not.

The same people who have made all the decisions for him made this final decision for him. His mind has not been his own for quite some time. The media and political hacks provided cover for as long as they could. I'm sure the plan was to somehow push him along until 2025, then pull the rug out and viola, we have a president Kamala for an entire term, no election needed. Almost worked. Now they need to hope to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

Kamala's odds of winning outright were far better than Biden. You know this. Nobody on the Left wanted him to continue to campaign.

All of you were stating that Biden was going to retire in the first year of his first term.
