I was just thinking about that today. Most of us traders have quick thinking minds and can adapt very easily. But if you look across that parking lot where I live over to the C store, you see many people who just want a fill up (or just enough to get them to work). And they are not going to adapt quickly.Rapid charging batteries are becoming a reality. Electric cars that can fast-swap battery packs are here... Solar is the way forward. Turn the highways and buildings into solar generators. Oil is like 18th century stuff, Steampunk anybody?
Just like ethonol.
don't confuse a failure of crony capitalism with a viable energy sourceEthanol is a dream and a stupid one at that.

where the hell are you from? There is hardly a kernel of corn grown in Iowa, Indiana or Illinois that is edible. Food? All three states could be wiped out and you wouldn't notice anything except high fructose corn syrup would be in short supply.I will agree that turning your food (corn) into fuel is absurd. However it is flavor of the day crony capitalism that has the support of farmers, the fuel industry (who charge higher rates for ethanol-added gas while getting tax breaks), and the environmental fringe.
However everyone should note the that there is significant advancements occurring in algae based fuel, in battery-life for electric cars, and in other alternative improvements while oil/gas (despite fracking) will someday be declining in production causing gasoline prices to sky-rocket.
