I can understand your US bias (i am a US citizen also) but there are no rankings which rank international universities in mathematics. You are automatically assuming that US schools would be ranked higher than the UK schools. It may well be that an international ranking would look like this:

1. Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine 5*
2. University of Cambridge 5*
3. University of Edinburgh 5*
4. University of Oxford 5*
5. Harvard
6. Yale
7. Princeton
8. Berkeley
9. Stanford
10. New York University

You are assuming an international ranking would look more like this:

1. Harvard
2. Yale
3. Princeton
4. Berkeley
5. Stanford
6. New York University
7. Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine 5*
8. University of Cambridge 5*
9. University of Edinburgh 5*
10. University of Oxford 5*

Oxford has a great mathematics program which does compete with the best programs in the world; any nimwit knows that!
