When I was delivering Pizza in a college town many of my fellow drivers day job was working for the University. They said it doesn't pay much but has great benefits.
I have a friend that works at Notre Dame in what they now call maintenance. They used to call it a janitor, but they upgraded the name. He makes a low hourly wage, but he can send his kids to college for free courtesy of the university. If they can get into ND academically, then four years free there. If not, then four years at any number of colleges that ND somehow has a reciprocal arrangement with. Anyway, my friend has three kids and two of them have already graduated from college under this arrangement and one more to go. That's quite a lot of money when you add it up.
